Yugadi
CHAITRA SHUKLA PRATHAMA ie The first day of the year according to the Panchangam (Hindu lunar Calendar.) The day falls in the beginning of spring - Vasanta Ritu - When the Goddess of Nature gets bedecked as a divine bride. It is also called baisakhi in Punjab. Tamil Nadu celebrates New Year on April 14th, according to Hindu Solar Calendar.

Rama Navami
Sri-Ramnavami is dedicated to the memory of Lord Rama. It occurs on the ninth day (navami) of the first month of Hindu Year. The festival commemorates the birth of Rama who is remembered for his preperous and righteous reign. Ramrajya (the reign of Rama) has become synonymous with a period of peace and prosperity. Kaun Banega Ramayan Expert (KBRE) registration starts this day.

Doctor Keshav Baliram Hedgewar

Doctor Keshav Baliram Hedgewar was the founder of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He founded it in the city of Nagpur, Maharashtra in the year of 1925, on the day of Vijaya dashami.

He was born in Nagpur, on April 1st, 1889, the auspicious day of Ugadi (Hindu New Year day.) He was the fifth child of Balirampant Hedgewar and Revatibai.

He studied hard and was the best in his school. He was the favorite student of all teachers and other students. All of Keshav’s friends, young and old, liked him. He spent most of his time in his friends' homes. He made friends very easily and everyone wanted to be around him.

He was inspired by incidents from the heroic life of Chatrapti Shivaji. He was patriotic right from his childhood. Although he graduated from Calcutta medical college, he vowed long back, to dedicate his life to his nation and the Hindu society.
